Allergan Inc., USA

Merz Pharma has concluded a partnership agreement with the pharmaceutical company Allergan Inc., USA, for the development and marketing of the substance Memantine for the treatment of glaucoma. Allergan is a global specialty pharmaceutical company that develops and commercializes innovative products for the eye care, neuromodulator, skin care and other specialty markets with more than 6,000 employees worldwide.

Forest Laboratories Inc., USA

In 2000, Merz signed a license and partnership agreement with the Forest Laboratories, Inc. for the development and marketing of the Merz substances Memantine and Neramexane. Memantine shall be developed mutually for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, neuropathic pain, and other diseases of the central nervous system (CNS). Neramexane is being studied for the treatment of serious neurological and psychiatric diseases.

Lundbeck A/S, Dänemark

Since August 2000, Merz has a license and partnership agreement with the pharmaceutical company Lundbeck for the continued development and marketing of the Memantine for Alzheimer's dementia and neuropathic pain for Europe and other important international markets. Lundbeck develops innovative pharmaceuticals for psychiatry and neurology and markets them internationally.

Daiichi Asubio, Japan

In 1997, Merz awarded an exclusive license for the development and marketing of Memantine for the treatment of dementia in Japan to Daiichi Asubio (formerly Suntory Ltd). Since 1979, the company is specialized in the development of new drugs that satisfy the needs of the increasingly aging population especially for CNS diseases. Daiichi Asubio Pharma Co Ltd. is a pharmaceutical company based in Tokyo.
