Men and women experience problems with the bladder and the urinary tract differently. For women, minor bladder infections and other urinary tract problems are the most common infections. The reasons behind this are anatomical. Due to the short urethra located in close proximity to the end of the intestine, women experience this problem much more often than men. In women, bacteria enter into the bladder much more easily. In 80 to 90% of all cases, intestinal bacteria are the cause of minor bladder infections. In addition, stress, cold, or wet bathing suits can make a person more susceptible to bladder infections.
Men can experience problems with their bladders not working properly between the early ages of 30 to 40. Other possible complaints can include problems emptying the bladder, a feeling of urine still remaining or an increased urge to urinate.
