Merz + Co. and Forest Laboratories announced today that they have entered into a license and cooperation agreement for the further development of Merz’ compound memantine for Alzheimer’s disease (AD), neuropathic pain and other central nervous system (CNS) indications.
“Merz is excited about this new partnership with Forest Laboratories, a highly respected marketer of Central Nervous System (CNS) pharmaceuticals,” said Dr. Jochen Hückmann, president of Merz + Co. “This agreement is in line with Merz’ firm commitment to develop novel, new CNS compounds for the U.S. and European markets and especially to develop memantine to better help patients suffering from dementia.”
