Kiel/Frankfurt am Main, 22.10.2001
Based on the importance of the original amantadine in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease, Merz + Co. has been awarded the H.G. Creutzfeldt pharmaceuticals prize for its antiparkinsonian product. The Creutzfeldt Institute in Kiel thus honors proven and accepted pharmaceutical products which are suitable for acute and long-term treatment. At the same time, these products may well be combined with other products that are safe, well-tolerated and, at the same time, economical in use: “The original amantadine from Merz meets all these requirements,” said Professor Dr. Dieter Müller of the Creutzfeldt Institute. “That is why we unanimously decided to present this award to Merz this year.”
Prof. Lachenmayer from Hamburg emphasized: “Amantadine sulfate is a modern and proven antiparkinson product which also has a promising future.”
