Dr. Matthias J. Rapp to become new Chief Financial Officer at Merz in Frankfurt

Frankfurt am Main, 03.02.2003

Dr. Matthias J. Rapp (35) has been named new Chief Financial Officer at Merz in Frankfurt. He will assume worldwide responsibility for finance, controlling, and law in the Merz Group. Merz is an internationally active company specializing in pharmaceuticals, health and wellness products, and writing implements.

Matthias J. Rapp was most recently Chief Financial Officer at Lurgi Life Science GmbH, a strategic business unit of mg technologies AG which is active in the fields of plant engineering for the pharmaceutical industry, renewable resources, and fine chemicals. Before that he was senior vice president of corporate development at Lurgi AG. He will support the Merz Group with his extensive experience in finance and controlling as Merz continues the expansion of its position as a globally active specialty pharmaceuticals company.

Dr. Rapp succeeds Dr. Peter Mauritz (39), who will be assuming a challenging position at Wella AG in Darmstadt.
