Award for Brain Research in Geriatrics 2003

Frankfurt am Main, 25.06.2003

For the 10th time the Center for Geriatric Research at the University of Witten/Herdecke will award the prize for brain research in geriatrics.

With this prize physicians, scientists, pharmacologists, nursing staff, psychologists and sociologists are honoured for their work which – on the basis of applied research – is a considerable contribution to improving diagnosis, therapy and care of geriatric patients with brain diseases. The prize is funded by Merz Pharma with 10.000 Euro.

On June 25th, 2003, the prize was awarded at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe-University to

• Dr. Christof Walter and Dr. F. Hertel, Hospital of the “Barmherzigen Brüder”, Trier for the work “Improvement of preoperative selection in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus using modern imaging techniques.”
• Prof.Dr. Jens Wiltfang, Psychiatric Clinic, University Erlangen, for his work “Diagnosis in dementia”
