Merz Pharmaceuticals: New Strategic Partnership strenghtens Product Portfolio in Aesthetic Dermatology

With the license for the new hyaluronic acid filler Belotero, the Dermatology division of Merz has made a major step towards being a a full provider in the field of non-invasive aesthetic dermatology.

Merz received the marketing rights for the countries Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, and Italy from the product's manufacturer, Anteis SA (Geneva). Many years of experience in the development and production of hyaluronic acid fillers (HA fillers) make Anteis SA a suitable partner for Merz Pharmaceuticals. In addition to the marketing rights for the filler, the partnership with Anteis SA also offers Merz Pharmaceuticals the option to participate in future product developments of Anteis.

The new filler Belotero, which is indicated for wrinkle and lip augmentation, expands Merz product range in the growing market of aesthetic dermatology. The market launch of Belotero strengthens Merz Pharmaceuticals aesthetic portfolio which comprises now two complementary products for skin rejuvenation, Hyal-System and Belotero. Hyal-System is indicated for the biorevitalization and rejuvenation of the skin while Belotero in the formulations Belotero Basic and Belotero Soft is used to augment wrinkles and lips.

The special CPM (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) production technology sets Belotero far apart from conventional HA fillers. The unique structure of the stable matrix completely fills the intradermal space and hence leads to a lasting and natural cosmetic result with soft dermal transitions. As a bio-degradable matrix, hyaluronic acid is also one of the most widely accepted and safest filler substances in the field of non-invasive dermatology.

Belotero is used by medical specialists in the versions Basic for medium and deep wrinkles and lips and Belotero Soft to correct fine, superficial wrinkles. Depending on the degree of correction desired, the procedure takes anywhere from a few minutes to half and hour.
